Yeoh Tiong Lay
Tan Sri Dato Seri Yeoh Tiong Lay (simplified Chinese: 杨忠礼; traditional Chinese: 楊忠禮; pinyin: Yáng Zhōnglǐ) is a Malaysian business tycoon and a prominent philanthropist. YTL is based primarily in Malaysia but has extensive operations in Asia, Australia and the United Kingdom, where it owns the utility Wessex Water. Yeoh Tiong Lay completed his secondary school education at Hin Hua High School in Klang, Malaysia.He founded YTL Corporation, one of Malaysia s biggest and most successful conglomerates with interests in construction, utilities, hotels, property development and technology. He is the father of Francis Yeoh, who is the eldest of his 7 children, all of whom are involved in the family business. He is one of the richest individuals in Malaysia, his family is estimated to have a net worth of US$ 1.8 billion, and is ranked as the 397th richest person on earth according to Forbes. He was conferred the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Emperor of Japan for his efforts in promoting bilateral relations between Malaysia and Japan on the 19th of January 2008. .
